ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a defamation case against

the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) until Wednesday.

During the proceedings, Shehbaz Sharif’s counsel, Mustafa Ramday, argued that the PTI founder’s

lawyer had failed to raise any substantial point in the review petition and did not identify any defect

or error in the court’s earlier judgment.

He informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif had filed the defamation suit against the PTI founder in

July 2017, but the response from the latter was submitted after a delay of four years. He further

stated that 75 adjournments were sought by the PTI founder’s counsel before filing the

written reply.

At this, Justice Hashim Kakar remarked that although Shehbaz Sharif submitted an amended reply

on March 8, the PTI founder failed to submit responses to interrogatories for nine months thereafter.

Mustafa Ramday also stated that while the incident in which the PTI founder was shot was unfortunate,

his unavailability on November 17 and 24 was not presented as a formal ground.

Subsequently, the court adjourned further hearing of the case until Wednesday, (April 8) directing the

counsel for Shehbaz Sharif to continue his arguments.
