LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, held a meeting with Sindh Government's Transport Secretary, Asad Zaman, in his office to exchange views on the expeditious completion of the restoration project for the existing Larkana Bus Terminal here on Wednesday.

This scheme was gifted to the city by Chairman of the People's Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro as part of their efforts to improve the city's infrastructure and civic amenities. The meeting focused on accelerating work on this key civic infrastructure scheme, which is crucial for regulating public transport and reducing traffic congestion in the city.

Discussions covered the complete restoration of the existing bus terminal's infrastructure to modern standards, the construction of a new boundary wall, the construction and rehabilitation of internal roads, and ancillary works. Upgraded drainage system, sewerage network, electrical and plumbing works, a water supply system, a new underground water tank (8,000 gallons), an overhead water tank (8,000 gallons), and a septic tank (10,000 gallons) were also reviewed. Passenger and driver amenities, including dedicated driver rooms and double-arm streetlights for improved nighttime safety and operation, were discussed.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the Transport Secretary that the Larkana Bus Terminal is the only official transport facility within the municipal limits. By law, no other bus/van terminal can be established within city limits.

Therefore, its restoration is essential to centralize all scattered transport points into a single regulated location.

DC Larkana emphasized that once restored, the terminal would shift all inter-city and intra-city bus/van services from roads, markets, and squares to the designated facility. This would significantly reduce traffic congestion, illegal parking, and encroachments on the city's main roads.

The Deputy Commissioner also told the Secretary that the district administration, along with the District Transport Authority, has already initiated a strict crackdown against all illegal van and bus stands operating in the city. Several illegal stands have been removed, and FIRs have been registered against violators.

Transport Secretary Asad Zaman praised the efforts of the district administration and the District Transport Authority Larkana. He commended the action against illegal transport stands and assured that the Transport Department would ensure the priority-based completion of the new, state-of-the-art bus terminal. He directed that standards and timelines be maintained to provide modern transport facilities to the citizens of Larkana as soon as possible.

Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio thanked the Transport Secretary for his cooperation and stated that the restoration of the bus terminal is a long-standing demand of the people of Larkana. He further said that the project would improve urban mobility, enhance public safety, and add to the city's civic infrastructure.
