HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, Sarah Javed, said on Tuesday that tuberculosis (TB) is not an incurable disease and urged citizens to seek immediate medical attention at nearby government hospitals if they experience any symptoms, so that timely treatment can be ensured.
In a message issued in connection with World Tuberculosis Day, she added that the health department also organized an awareness rally. The rally was led by District Health Officer (DHO) Sanghar, Dr. Farooque Arain, and TB specialist Dr. Akbar Kumbhar. A large number of citizens, healthcare professionals, and health department staff participated in the rally, carrying banners and placards inscribed with messages about the eradication of TB.
Speaking on the occasion, DHO Dr Farooque Arain, ADHO Dr Vishan Mal, Dr Salma Saif, Dr Saifur Rehman and focal person of Bridge consultant Foundation Sanghar Ghulam Murtaza Mangi said that TB was a curable disease and can be controlled through timely diagnosis and complete treatment.
They added that the purpose of observing the day was to raise public awareness so that people take the disease seriously and seek timely treatment.
Health experts present at the rally also informed participants about precautionary measures and advised that symptoms such as persistent cough, fever and weight loss should not be ignored and require immediate consultation with doctors.
DHO Dr Farooque Arain reaffirmed the commitment to continue such awareness campaigns for the eradication of TB and to maintain cooperation with the Bridge Consultant Foundation to protect more people from the disease.
