Devotees flock to shrine on second day of Madhu Lal Hussain Urs

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2026) A large number of devotees thronged the second day of 438th Urs celebrations of Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain in Lahore on Sunday.

According to the details, thousands of devotees from across the country attended the ceremonies of the annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Hussain, also known as Madhu Lal Hussain.

Police made foolproof security arrangements for the three-day celebrations.

The Urs began on Saturday with the traditional chadarposhi ceremony at the shrine. The famous “Allao” (sacred fire) remained a central attraction, where devotees offered items as mannats.

Hazrat Shah Hussain, a renowned Punjabi Sufi poet, died in 1599 near the Ravi River and was buried in Baghbanpura, Lahore. He was considered a pioneer of the Kafi form of Punjabi poetry.He was closely associated with a Hindu Brahmin boy, Madhu, and both came to be remembered together as Madhu Lal Hussain. Madhu was also buried alongside him at the shrine.

Special arrangements were made for pilgrims, including sabeels and langar, to facilitate visitors during the celebrations.
