LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) Punjab Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Director General Dr. Shehnshah Faisal Azeem visited the Center for Intellectually Challenged Children Lahore and distributed Eid gifts to the children on behalf of the Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt, here on Tuesday.
During the visit, the DG inquired about the children’s well-being and conducted a detailed review of the facilities. He was briefed that children with intellectual disabilities are provided speech therapy, physical and recreational activities, and opportunities to learn various skills to help them become productive members of society.
Dr. Shehnshah Faisal Azeem also visited the Center for Independent Living and Development, where he inspected ongoing programs and services, issuing instructions for their improvement.
He directed the relevant officers to ensure that no lapse occurs in the care of the children and that they are provided with the best facilities to grow and thrive in a supportive environment.
The DG emphasized that the government is taking comprehensive measures for the welfare of children with special needs and highlighted the critical role of such centers in serving the weaker segments of society. He also reiterated the importance of providing timely support, quality care, and skill-building opportunities to help these children lead fulfilling and productive lives.
He said the social welfare department is committed to improving social welfare programs and ensuring that children with special needs receive proper attention, resources, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
