LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) The NUR Foundation, an initiative of Fatima Memorial Hospital, organized a thought-provoking session of the NUR Shanakht Speaker Series under the NUR Student Leadership Program at Saida Waheed FMH College of Nursing on Tuesday.
Titled “Our Identity: Who Are Our Heroes? Religious Scholars, Influencers, or Scientists,” the session explored the voices and role models shaping the perspectives of today’s youth and examined how these influences impact their values and sense of national identity.
The dialogue was moderated by Maha Rehman, Co-Founder of the NUR Foundation, while Ahmed Rasheed facilitated the discussion. The panel featured speakers from diverse professional backgrounds, including journalist Ali Abbas, cultural commentator and podcast host Muhammad Moeed Naeem, and Islamic scholar Dr Umbreen Sajjad.
Panelists urged students to critically assess the influences around them and to ground their personal and collective identity in knowledge, research, and ethical principles. They emphasized the need for intellectual balance, critical thinking, and the selection of positive role models to foster constructive social development.
A large number of students and faculty members attended the session. According to the organizers, the NUR Shanakht Speaker Series aims to promote a culture of dialogue among young people and encourage thoughtful reflection on identity, values, and social responsibility.
