SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons Punjab, Saeed Ullah Gondal on Thursday conducted detailed inspections of District Jails in Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Shahpur to review security measures, administrative affairs and inmate welfare facilities.
According to the spokesperson for the Prisons department, during the visits, the DIG inspected various sections of the prisons, including security checkpoints, barracks, walk-through gates, search points and CCTV surveillance systems.
He expressed satisfaction over the existing security arrangements but directed jail authorities to further strengthen security measures, warning that any negligence or lapse would not be tolerated.
Saeed Ullah Gondal also visited prison hospitals where he reviewed medical facilities, availability of medicines and cleanliness standards.
He instructed officials to ensure the timely provision of quality healthcare services to inmates and emphasized that the welfare of prisoners must remain a priority.
The DIG inspected prison kitchens and checked the quality of food being served to inmates.

He also reviewed the screening process for visitors, the performance of staff deployed at entry and exit points, and the implementation of security protocols.
Jail officials were instructed to ensure thorough checking, identification and record verification of all visitors to further enhance security.
Highlighting the importance of discipline and cleanliness, the DIG directed prison administrations to improve sanitation systems and enhance facilities available to inmates.
He urged officers and staff to perform their duties with honesty, professionalism and dedication.
At the conclusion of the visits, Saeed Ullah Gondal received briefings from jail officials, reviewed the overall performance of the institutions and issued necessary directions aimed at improving administrative efficiency, prison reforms and inmate welfare in line with the Punjab government’s priorities.
