ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah on Monday reiterated the government’s foremost priority to ensure that financial assistance reached beneficiaries with dignity and respect through a transparent, efficient digital system, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

He made these remarks during a visit to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) office in Kasur, where he reviewed ongoing operations and service delivery mechanisms.

The minister said the government was implementing far-reaching initiatives in health and social protection to uplift underprivileged segments, adding that digitisation of financial assistance was central to improving transparency, efficiency, and accessibility.

Calling the national poverty alleviation programme a “new chapter” in Pakistan’s economic landscape, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue supporting deserving individuals without interruption.

Highlighting complementary welfare efforts, he noted that modern facilitation centres established under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal were providing comprehensive medical services to deserving patients under one roof.

Reiterating a zero-tolerance stance on irregularities, the minister stressed that merit and transparency would be upheld across all federal programmes at every level.

He also directed authorities to ensure complete transparency in the provision of SIM cards, enabling BISP beneficiaries to receive payments seamlessly through mobile wallets.

Earlier, the minister visited various sections of the BISP office and expressed satisfaction over the mechanisms in place for the smooth and timely disbursement of financial assistance.
