Digital signboard installed at Lansdowne Bridge

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) District Council Sukkur Chairman Syed Kumail Hyder Shah inaugurated a modern digital signboard at the historic Lansdowne Bridge on Thursday.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Shah also reviewed ongoing development work on the pedestrian bridge under construction from Navy Park to Jamaloo Park and received a briefing from officials on the progress.

He said the Lansdowne Bridge was an important part of Rohri’s historical identity, and practical steps were being taken to enhance its beauty and tourism significance. The new digital signboard, he added, would help give the landmark a renewed identity.

The chairman said the pedestrian bridge from Navy Park to Jamaloo Park aimed to improve traffic management and provide safe, convenient access for pedestrians. Under the project, citizens would be able to park their vehicles at Navy Park and easily reach Lansdowne Bridge and Jamaloo Park on foot.

He added that passengers arriving by train would also be able to visit Jamaloo Park for recreation, while tourists would get better facilities at Lansdowne Bridge and nearby sites. He expressed hope that the initiatives would help project a positive image of Rohri and promote tourism.

He later directed the authorities concerned to complete all development projects within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards, so that the public could be provided with the best facilities.

Deputy Mayor Sukkur Dr Arshad Mughal, G.A. Shah Town Chairman Azizullah Mughal, focal person Irfan Daudpota, Advocate Suhail Memon, Syed Imdad Hussain Shah, Sukkur Press Club General Secretary Ahqar Rizvi, Rohri Press Club President Mujahid Bozdar and others were also present on the occasion.
