MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) The district administration has launched an extensive anti-profiteering drive to curb artificial price hikes,conducting thousands of inspections and taking strict action against violators.
Officials said that between March1 and 26,a total of 82,647 inspections were carried out to monitor prices of essential commodities and enforce government regulations.
Shopkeepers involved in overcharging were fined over Rs.7 million.
Under the Price Control Portal, 56,391 inspections were conducted, resulting in penalties exceeding Rs2 million.
The administration also registered eight cases, arrested 28 individuals, and sealed five shops for repeated violations.
Separately,Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) teams conducted 26,256 inspections,issued 2,400 challans,imposed fines totaling Rs.5 million, and sealed 11 additional outlets.
Two more arrests were made during these operations.
Acting on the directions of Muhammad Nauman Siddique,enforcement teams continue round-the-clock monitoring of markets. Officials said the price control campaign will remain active to protect consumers and stabilize commodity rates across the district.
