DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) The district administration launched a special crackdown across key intersections and entry and exit points of the city to ensure implementation of the government's reduced public transport fares.

Assistant Commissioner Dr. Hamid, accompanied by officials from the Traffic Police and the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), led the operation aimed at preventing overcharging and providing relief to passengers.

The operation was carried out following public complaints and the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Khan.

During the crackdown, the authorities inspected around 25 to 30 public transport vehicles for fare violations. The passengers who had been charged above the officially notified fares were refunded the excess amount on the spot, while legal proceedings were initiated against drivers and vehicle owners found responsible.

The official reports have been forwarded to the relevant authorities, and the administration warned that future violations could result in the registration of FIRs, arrests, and other legal action.

The crackdown also targeted the illegal use of LPG cylinders in public transport vehicles. Assistant Commissioner Dr. Hamid stated that strict action would continue against transport operators using LPG unlawfully, as well as filling stations involved in refuelling such vehicles.

The district administration reiterated that ensuring full compliance with government-approved transport fares and providing maximum relief to the public remain its top priorities.

Monitoring and enforcement operations will continue across the district, and no leniency will be shown to those overcharging passengers or endangering public safety.
