District administration holds walk on World Environment Day

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Jun, 2026) On the World Environment Day, an awareness walk was organised at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Sialkot, under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abbas Zulqarnain, a release said on Friday .

A large number of participants, including officials and staff from the Environmental Protection Department, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Rescue 1122, district administration, and citizens, took part in the walk.

Addressing the participants, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abbas Zulqarnain stated that the purpose of observing World Environment Day is to raise public awareness about environmental protection, tree plantation, and the prudent use of natural resources. He noted that climate change has become a major challenge for the entire world and that collective efforts are essential to safeguard against its adverse effects.

He emphasized that protecting existing trees and promoting large-scale tree plantation are urgent needs of the time.

If every citizen plants and cares for even one tree, it can significantly contribute to improving the environment and reducing pollution. He urged the public to play their role in establishing a clean and green environment.

Among those present were Deputy Director Environment Johar Abbas, Director PHA Mehboob Elahi Khar, Environment Inspector Shahid Dogar, officers and personnel of Rescue 1122, staff of the Environmental Protection Department, and representatives of other relevant institutions.

Later, in connection with World Environment Day, participants planted saplings in the lawn of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and renewed their commitment to promoting environmentally friendly activities, tree plantation, and the elimination of environmental pollution. The speakers stressed that a green and clean environment is the guarantee of a safe and prosperous future for coming generations.
