District administration warns against swimming in canals, ponds

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The district administration has warned citizens against swimming and bathing in canals, ponds and other unsafe water bodies during the summer season, saying negligence could lead to fatal accidents and lifelong grief for families.

According to an awareness message issued by the District Information Office, people have been advised to avoid swimming in canals, ponds and other dangerous water reservoirs, while parents were urged to keep a close watch on children and teenagers and prevent them from visiting such places.

The administration also directed citizens to follow warning signs and safety barriers installed at hazardous locations and immediately inform Rescue 1122 in case of any emergency.

The special patrolling by police and Rescue 1122 has been launched across the district at dangerous points, while strict legal action will be taken against violators.

The administration said awareness campaigns were also being carried out through mosques, local media and social media platforms to prevent drowning incidents.

“Life is precious and should not be risked for a few moments of recreation,” the message added.
