District Peace Committee reviews Eidul Azha arrangements

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Ayesha Khan chaired an important meeting

of the District Peace Committee and reviewed arrangements related to law and order,

sanitation, cattle markets, sewerage issues, and public facilities across the district ahead

of Eidul Azha. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra

Mubeen, religious scholars, representatives of traders’ associations, while assistant

commissioners from other tehsils participated via video link.

Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Ayesha Khan stated

that effective implementation of government directives and the provision of the best possible

facilities to citizens during Eidul Azha would be ensured. She directed the departments

concerned to guarantee cleanliness, security, and the provision of basic facilities at cattle

markets so that citizens do not face any inconvenience.

She further instructed authorities to take immediate measures for improving the sewerage

system across the district and directed relevant departments to work on an emergency

basis for repairing open manholes and resolving drainage-related issues.

Dr Ayesha Khan also ordered that the ongoing anti-encroachment operation be further

accelerated and directed market authorities to ensure the availability of essential commodities

at officially fixed prices through continuous market monitoring.

Appealing to religious scholars, she requested that special messages regarding peace,

brotherhood, cleanliness, and civic responsibilities be delivered during Eidul Azha and

Friday sermons to help maintain a clean and peaceful environment during the festive days.

She also urged citizens not to allow stagnant dirty water in streets, roads, and outside

homes and to strictly follow cleanliness principles.

During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding Bahawalpur city’s sewerage

system and the ongoing beautification project of Farid Gate. Dr Ayesha Khan informed

participants that an effective strategy was being implemented for the permanent resolution

of sewerage problems, while the Farid Gate beautification project would soon be completed

and opened for the public.

She reaffirmed that the district administration would utilize all available resources to ensure

effective sanitation arrangements, prompt resolution of public issues, and the provision of

maximum facilities to citizens during Eidul Azha.
