Distt admin gears up for rains, directs departments to ensure preparedness

LOWER DIR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) The district administration here on Thursday stepped up preparedness measures in view of prevailing weather conditions and possible rains, directing all relevant departments to remain on high alert and ensure timely preventive.

A meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Relief and Human Rights Syed Akram Shah reviewed contingency planning and emergency response mechanisms. Officials from all concerned departments attended the session and were briefed on precautionary steps to deal with any adverse situation.

Civil Defence was directed to establish volunteer committees at the village council level and complete training of youth volunteers by April 15 to enhance local response capacity in emergencies.

Authorities including Communication and Works (C&W), Highway Authority and Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) were instructed to ensure cleaning of all drainage channels and submit compliance certificates within the given time-frame.

The Irrigation Department, C&W and National Highway Authority were asked to prepare detailed lists of available public and private machinery, along with contact details of drivers and contractors, to facilitate quick deployment during emergencies.

Rescue 1122 was directed to compile lists of its personnel and local divers and share them with the Relief Branch for rapid response.

Officials of Irrigation and C&W departments were further instructed to inspect all bridges and embankments before April 15 and carry out necessary repairs or provide fitness certificates.

The Local Government department was tasked with providing updated lists and contact numbers of all village council secretaries.

Health authorities, including the District Health Officer and Medical Superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, were directed to ensure availability of emergency medicines and medical facilities.

Concluding the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all departments must remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.
