Distt Admin reviews advance monsoon preparedness, orders preventive measures

SWAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief & Human Rights), Naimatullah, on Wednesday chaired a meeting

to review advance preparations for the upcoming monsoon season and directed relevant departments to

ensure timely preventive measures against possible flooding and heavy rains.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Deputy Commissioner Swat office, assistant

commissioners from across the district and tehsil municipal officers participated in the meeting through

video link, while officials from the Irrigation Department, Water and Sanitation Services Company Swat,

Upper Swat Development Authority and other concerned departments attended in person.

The meeting was held in light of instructions issued by the Secretary Relief Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure

effective planning and preparedness for any flood-like situation during the monsoon season.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to immediately provide

complete data regarding desilting and cleaning of drains, nullahs and waterways, including progress made

so far and details of the remaining work.

He also sought progress reports on actions taken against encroachments along waterways and the removal

of illegal structures obstructing water flow.

Emphasizing the need for vigilance, Naimatullah instructed all institutions to remain on high alert and ensure

advance planning for emergency response. He directed the departments to make the drainage system fully

functional, ensure the availability of machinery and staff, identify sensitive locations and take special

preventive steps.

He further stressed the importance of launching public awareness campaigns to inform citizens about

precautionary measures during the monsoon season.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said protection of public life and property remained the top priority

of the district administration and warned that no negligence or delay would be tolerated in this regard.

He also directed all departments to strengthen mutual coordination and ensure timely reporting so that

any potential threat could be addressed without delay.
