Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen has directed a series of administrative and revenue-enhancement measures for transforming Faisalabad Urban Transport & Welfare Society (FUTS) into a financially sustainable and profit-generating organization capable of supporting public welfare initiatives

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen has directed a series of administrative and revenue-enhancement measures for transforming Faisalabad Urban Transport & Welfare Society (FUTS) into a financially sustainable and profit-generating organization capable of supporting public welfare initiatives.

She issued these directives during a visit to FUTS Terminal located outside Aminpur Bazaar where she reviewed operational affairs and future development plans for the transport facility.

Additional Commissioner Coordination Tanveer Murtaza accompanied the divisional commissioner while FUTS Administrator Rahat Ali briefed her about ongoing efforts to increase revenue from FUTS petrol pump under an agreement with Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

During briefing, the officials informed the divisional commissioner about various initiatives being undertaken to improve financial performance of the organization and maximize returns from its commercial assets.

Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen emphasized that expansion of FUTS Terminal has become essential in view of the growing volume of inter-city and intra-city public transport vehicles.

She said that enhanced terminal facilities would improve transport management and create additional revenue streams for the organization.

To strengthen financial discipline, the divisional commissioner decided to recruit experienced recovery staff to ensure the achievement of recovery targets and improve monitoring of dues and revenue collection mechanisms.

She also directed the authorities to undertake downsizing of unnecessary staff posted in the organization, stressing that administrative expenditures should be rationalized to improve operational efficiency and financial sustainability.

She said that income generated by FUTS should be utilized in a transparent manner for public welfare and development-oriented initiatives, ensuring that the organization served the broader interests of the citizens.

In a move aimed at modernizing transport-related facilities, the divisional commissioner directed the installation of an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging system at FUTS petrol pump.

She further instructed the officials to upgrade petrol pump and subsequently shift it to a solar-powered system to reduce operational costs and promote environmentally friendly energy solutions.

She also approved the imposition of token fee of Rs50 per vehicle for public service vehicles entering the terminal and tehsil sub-terminals from either side. This measure would help generate additional revenue for the maintenance and development of transport infrastructure, she added.

She stressed the need for effective management, transparency and innovation to strengthen financial position of FUTS and enable it to play a more active role in improving urban transport services and supporting welfare-oriented projects in Faisalabad.
