ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said Pakistan, under the leadership of prime minister, was playing an active and constructive role in regional and global peace efforts, reflecting the country’s maturity, credibility, and steadfast commitment to international peace and stability.
He underscored that a nation capable of defending itself with confidence was equally well-positioned to pursue sincere peacemaking efforts with credibility.
The DPM/ FM was addressing Pakistani-American community at Eid dinner, in Consulate General of Pakistan, New York, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release issued here on Thursday.
The event was attended by prominent Pakistani-American community leaders and professionals.
Dar said that Pakistan had immense potential, and that its best days were ahead.
He said that the government had successfully steered the country through a period of significant economic challenges toward stability.
He further noted that Pakistan was now pursuing a path of sustainable, high-growth development aimed at improving the quality of life of its people.
He pointed to declining inflation, improved credit ratings, a strengthening external account, and rising investor confidence as evidence of this trajectory.
The deputy prime minister and foreign minister emphasised that the next phase of growth would be driven by exports, with the government actively pursuing an export-led growth model to generate foreign exchange, create employment, and integrate Pakistan firmly into the global economy and supply chains.

The DPM/ FM invited the Pakistani-American community to honour their roots by investing in Pakistan and becoming partners in the country's journey forward.
Addressing the gathering, he reflected on a defining chapter in Pakistan’s history.
He noted that May held special significance in the nation’s history on multiple counts. It was in this same month, 28 years ago, that Pakistan, under the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, demonstrated national resolve and capability on 28 May 1998 by becoming a nuclear power, thereby earning its rightful place among the nations that determined the course of global security.
He further highlighted that exactly one year ago, in May 2025, Pakistan’s resilient armed forces under the leadership of General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal and Chief of Defense Forces; Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff; and Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, alongside the people of Pakistan, stood firm in the face of Indian aggression.
The outcome became an immortalised moment of national pride, deserving to be acknowledged and celebrated, he added.
He commended the resilience and unity shown by the armed forces and people of Pakistan during that period.
