DPO reiterates commitment to maintain peace in Muharram

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shahbaz Ilahi has reiterated the police department's commitment to maintain peace and promote interfaith harmony during the upcoming month of Muharram.

During his visits to various Imambargahs in Kohat, the DPO met with organizers, community elders and religious leaders. He conducted a detailed review of the security arrangements including the routes of processions, venues for Majalis, and overall logistical preparedness.

Addressing the stakeholders, DPO urged people to maintain close coordination with the local administration and police to ensure a peaceful atmosphere. He assured that foolproof security arrangements were being put in place including deployment of additional police personnel, enhanced patrolling and strict surveillance of sensitive areas to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

The DPO held an 'Open Court' (Khuli Katcheri) at the Lachi Police Station to address public grievances directly. He listened to the issues raised by the locals and directed that matters related to other government departments be forwarded to the concerned authorities. He announced the provision of an additional police mobile vehicle for Lachi to enhance patrolling and directed the establishment of village-level joint peace committees to improve community and police collaboration.
