Dr. Burki vows to improve healthcare, medical education Ayub teaching hospital

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Provision of quality healthcare to the public and promotion of higher medical education are among the top priorities of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This was stated by Dr. Nausherwan Burki during his visit to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad.

He further said that the issues faced by faculty, trainee doctors and students will be resolved on a priority basis to bring further improvement in the health and education sectors.

Earlier, upon his arrival he was briefed about the overall performance and functioning of the hospital.

During the visit, Dr. Burki inspected various departments including MRI, CT scan, OPD, pathology, radiology, emergency, medical ICU and operation theatres.

He also received detailed briefings from the heads of departments and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to patients.

He directed the hospital administration to further improve service delivery, remove existing shortcomings immediately and ensure an effective monitoring system.

Later, he also visited Ayub Medical College, where he met members of the board of Governors, including Professor Alam Zeb Manan and Usman Ali Sher. He also held meetings with faculty members, trainee medical officers and students, and listened to their issues in detail.

Dr Burki reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services and medical education, saying that practical steps will be taken to address the problems faced by medical institutions and ensure better facilities for both patients and medical students.
