Dr. Hasnat Khan appointed dean of Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that the Punjab Government has appointed internationally renowned surgeon and cardiologist Dr. Hasnat Khan as the Dean of Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC) Lahore.

In a statement on Thursday, he said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the appointment in accordance with rules and regulations, following the recommendations of the JIC board of Directors. The appointment aims to further strengthen the healthcare system and enhance the quality of cardiac services in the province.

Khawaja Salman Rafique highlighted that the Punjab Government is committed to providing international-standard healthcare facilities to patients suffering from heart diseases. He added that Dr. Hasnat Khan applied for the position after the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical education advertised the post of Dean for JIC Lahore.

The Chief Minister also held a meeting with Dr. Hasnat Khan after his appointment, expressing confidence in his professional expertise and leadership.

Secretary of the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Azmat Mahmood, stated that the government is ensuring the recruitment of highly qualified professionals for new hospitals across Punjab. He noted that Dr. Hasnat Khan’s experience and international exposure will play a significant role in delivering high-quality medical services to patients at Jinnah Institute of Cardiology.

He further emphasized that merit-based criteria are strictly followed for appointments in all institutions to ensure transparency and excellence in healthcare delivery.
