Dr Syeda Shahida Batool assumes charge as WUM VC

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Prof Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool has formally assumed charge as the VC of Women University Multan, (WUM) following her appointment notification here on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the WUM said , upon her arrival at the campus, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from faculty members, administrative officers, and university staff.

Dr. Shahida Batool is a distinguished Professor of Psychology with an accomplished academic and professional profile. She earned her PhD in Applied Psychology from Government College University, Lahore and has made remarkable contributions in the fields of teaching, research, and student mentorship throughout her career.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she initiated the Punjab Mental Health Helpline, a significant public service initiative that received appreciation at national and international levels. She is currently serving as the Additional Secretary General of the Pakistan Psychology Association.

In recognition of her outstanding academic and professional services, Professor Dr. Shahida Batool has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the HEC Best Researcher Award, Best University Teacher Award, Outstanding Research Paper Award, Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award, and Pride of Nation Award.

She has supervised 17 PhD scholars and more than 150 MPhil and BS research students, many of whom are now serving as academicians, researchers, and professionals across the countr

Addressing faculty members and university officers after assuming office, the VC stated that The WUM would be transformed into a model institution aligned with contemporary educational and research standards, where students would be provided with quality education, innovation-driven learning, and opportunities for character building.

She emphasized that merit, transparency, accountability, and discipline would remain the defining principles of her administration. She further remarked that with the collective efforts of faculty, officers, and staff, the university would continue its journey towards academic excellence and institutional progress.

Dr. Shahida Batool also reiterated that providing a safe, positive, and research-oriented environment for female students would remain her foremost priority so that they may confidently excel at both national and international levels.

Senior faculty members and university officials also addressed the gathering and congratulated the VC on assuming her new responsibilities.
