SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin announced that Water

and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Sialkot’s new machinery will be fully operational ahead

of the upcoming monsoon season.

Practical measures are being implemented to improve the city’s drainage system,

he added.

Speaking to the media at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the minister said that approximately

PKR 1.9 billion had been allocated for the procurement of modern machinery, and two new disposal

stations will also be constructed.

The minister added that development projects worth Rs 12 billion for Sialkot have been approved, and within the next two years, the city’s sewerage issues will be resolved.

Highlighting the “Clinic on Wheel” initiative, Minister Bilal Yasin said that essential medicines are being delivered directly to people’s homes, describing it as a revolutionary step for public health.

Bilal Yasin stated that public enrollment in government schools is on the rise, and over 25,000 kilometers of roads have been constructed across the province.

He added that the “Suthra Punjab” project is a unique project now being extended to rural areas, while every district is being included in the electric bus program, with electric buses soon to operate in Sialkot as well.

He informed that under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, 121,000 houses have been completed, constructed in less than a year, adding that a target has been set to build 5,00,000 homes over the next five years, for which interest-free loans are being provided, with a monthly installment of just 14,000 rupees.
