Easter celebrated with devotion and joy in Faisalabad amid tight security

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) Christian community in Faisalabad celebrated Easter on Sunday with deep religious devotion and festive enthusiasm, as special prayers, gatherings and family activities marked the occasion across the city.

The celebrations began on Saturday night, with churches illuminated and candles lit, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere.

Special prayer services were held in churches where a large number of men, women and children participated and offered prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of the country.

Religious leaders highlighted that teachings of the Christ promote humanity, love and brotherhood, adding that Easter is the most significant religious festival for Christians and symbolizes a moment of reward following patience and devotion.

Members of Christian community said that exchanging gifts, visiting relatives and spending time with family were integral parts of the celebrations.

Throughout the day, the people also visited graveyards to lay flowers on the graves of their loved ones and offer prayers.

Elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the police to ensure a peaceful environment during the celebrations.

More than 2,400 police officers and personnel were deployed across the city.

According to police officials, 42 mobile patrol teams, 20 Elite Force units, 84 Eagle Squad teams and 45 Dolphin Force teams, along with police station patrol units, remained on duty to safeguard churches, residential areas and public places.

Surveillance through CCTV cameras was also ensured in churches and surrounding localities.

Parking arrangements were made at a safe distance from places of worship while strict checking at entry and exit points of churches was carried out by using walk-through gates and metal detectors.

Similarly, snap checking and combing operations were conducted in sensitive areas and near Christian localities to maintain law & order.
