Easter: Christian community rushes to markets, security on high alert across Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) In view of the arrival of Easter, shopping by the Christian community across the province has reached its peak, due to which a rush is being seen in the markets.

On this occasion, IG Punjab Abdul Karim issued orders to put security on high alert and directed to further tighten security across the province, including Lahore.

According to police officials, more than 17,000 officers and personnel will perform security duties across the province on the occasion of Easter, while more than 3,000 personnel have been deployed in Lahore alone.

IG Punjab has directed that personnel deployed in markets, entertainment venues and sensitive areas should be on full alert.

Ladies Squad, Dolphin Force, PRU and Elite Force have been ordered to conduct effective patrolling around important places.

Moreover, instructions have also been issued for immediate action against elements harassing women in markets and markets.

According to the police spokesperson, markets and business centers are being continuously monitored through the cameras of the Safe Cities

IG Punjab has directed RPOs and DPOs to review the security arrangements themselves and has also ordered strict vigilance at inter-provincial border check posts.

Officials say that combing, search and intelligence-based operations will also continue on the occasion of Easter so that any untoward incident can be avoided.
