Education Minister inspects examination centers,directs better facilities

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Punjab education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat on Monday conducted surprise visits to matriculation examination centers in Kahna, Walton and Model Town,ordering immediate corrective measures after observing deficiencies in basic facilities.

During the inspections, the minister reviewed examination arrangements and interacted with students to assess on-ground conditions.

Expressing concern over inadequate lighting and poor cleanliness at a center in Kahna,he directed the authorities concerned to ensure immediate rectification.

In Model Town,he took notice of complaints regarding uncomfortable seating and ordered replacement of chairs the same day,directing that all centers must ensure proper seating facilities without delay.

He also instructed officials to provide clean drinking water and other essential amenities to candidates.

Highlighting improvements in transparency,Rana Sikandar Hayat said that measures taken by the government to ensure fair examinations were producing results, with Unfair Means Cases (UMC) declining by 80 per cent this year.

He added that only three such cases were reported in hard areas.

He said a comprehensive monitoring system was in place, with teams actively supervising examinations across Punjab.

In South Punjab,monitoring teams recovered cheating material during inspections in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan,while evidence of facilitation through mobile communication by supervisory staff also surfaced.

The minister said strict action had been taken against those involved, reiterating that impersonation and cheating would not be tolerated.

He added that biometric attendance,QR code verification and real-time camera monitoring had been introduced to ensure transparency and accountability at all examination centers.
