MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to promote efficient water use in agriculture, a balloting ceremony for the provision of laser land levelers at subsidized price was held at the deputy commissioner office here Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by political leaders Dr. Akhtar Malik and Haji Javed Akhtar Ansari, besides additional commissioner general Rashid Iqbal, director water management Malik Saadi Ahmed, deputy director Imran Saleemi, assistant agronomist Umair Raza, along with other officials and a large number of farmers.
A total of 29 laser land leveler units were allocated for Multan district through balloting. Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 600,000 per unit to the successful farmers. Out of these, 15 units were allotted for farmers in Multan tehsil, 6 in Shujabad, and 8 in Jalalpur Pirwala.
According to the deputy director Water Management, 298 applications were received, out of which 130 were approved, and the balloting was conducted among these eligible applicants.
Speaking on the occasion, officials congratulated the successful farmers and highlighted that the use of laser land levelers ensures land leveling, saves irrigation water, and enhances crop yield. They added that modern agricultural machinery not only reduces farming costs but also plays a significant role in boosting agricultural development.
The speakers emphasized that such initiatives by the government are instrumental in strengthening the rural economy and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
