EIB KP foils narcotics smuggling attempt, arrests two accused

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics in its second major operation within the last 24 hours.

Acting on a tip off, officials recovered 1,014 grams of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) from a vehicle and arrested two accused persons. A case has been registered against them at Excise Police Station Peshawar, and further investigation was underway.

According to details received from the Excise Department, the Excise Intelligence Bureau's B-1 mobile Squad intercepted vehicle RIT-5385 near H Gol Chowk in Peshawar based on actionable intelligence. During the search, the team recovered 1,014 grams of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) that had been concealed inside the vehicle.

During the operation, the team arrested Shahzad, son of Shah Muhammad, and Nauman Khan, son of Musharraf Khan, both residents of Mohallah Daudzai, Tehkal Payan, Peshawar.

A case has been registered against the accused at Excise Police Station Peshawar, and legal proceedings and further investigation have commenced.

In line with the Provincial Government's zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and on the directives of Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, the department continued its uninterrupted crackdown on narcotics, particularly Ice (crystal methamphetamine), across the province.

The Excise Department reaffirmed that strict legal action would continue against drug traffickers and smugglers in accordance with the law, and that all available resources would be utilized to protect the younger generation from the menace of narcotics.
