LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Punjab achieved a historic milestone in its Eid-ul-Azha sanitation drive as the Suthra Punjab teams collected more than 376,000 tonnes of animal waste and solid refuse during the three days of Eid, surpassing last year’s performance.
According to a handout issued here on Saturday, the province-wide operation exceeded the 2025 record of 357,000 tonnes of sacrificial waste, remains and garbage collected during Eid-ul-Azha. Sanitation workers removed around 55,000 tonnes of waste on Chand Raat, 126,188 tonnes on the first day of Eid, 113,233 tonnes on the second day and 82,163 tonnes on the third day.
Authorities said door-to-door collection of animal remains and waste was carried out across Punjab, with all material transported to designated points and safely disposed of at approved dumping sites to ensure public health and hygiene.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Residents appreciated the cleanliness arrangements, particularly the timely removal of sacrificial waste from residential areas, while also acknowledging the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for ensuring efficient sanitation services during the Eid holidays.
The operation remained under continuous supervision, with commissioners, deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners monitoring field activities across the province. Control rooms at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil levels remained active round-the-clock to oversee the campaign.
For the first time, surveillance technology including Punjab Safe Cities Authority cameras and drone monitoring was used to identify waste accumulation points and improve response efficiency, making the drive one of the most closely monitored cleanliness operations in the province’s history.
