BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) Eidul Azha was celebrated across Bahawalpur on Wednesday with religious zeal and enthusiasm as thousands of people offered Eid prayers at mosques, Eidgahs and open congregations, praying for the country’s peace,progress and prosperity.
The main Eid congregation was held at the historic Markazi Eid Gah Bahawalpur, where a large number of worshippers gathered to offer prayers.
Besides the central congregation, Eid prayers were also offered at Technical High school,Masjid Al-Shams,Satellite Town, One Unit Chowk,Serani Mosque,Model Town,Abbasia High School,Jama Masjid Ahle-Hadis, Shia Jamia Mosque, S.E. College and Police Line, among other venues across the district.
District police made extensive security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations during Eid-ul-Azha.
Officials said special security plans had been implemented at all major Eid congregations and sensitive locations across the city.
More than 2,300 police officers and personnel were deployed for security duties while Dolphin Force,Elite Force and police patrolling teams remained active throughout the day to maintain law and order and provide a secure environment for citizens.
Walk-through gates, metal detectors and strict checking procedures were adopted at major Eid prayer venues, while police officials monitored the security situation through mobile patrols and control rooms.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Senior officers also visited various Eid congregations to review arrangements and ensure effective implementation of the security plan.
Special focus was placed on crowded markets, parks and public places to prevent any untoward incident during the Eid holidays.
Meanwhile,Bahawalpur Waste Management Company(BWMC) and the Suthra Punjab Authority carried out extensive cleanliness and sanitation operations across the city during the three days of Eid-ul-Azha.
Special operational teams, machinery and waste collection vehicles were deployed for the timely disposal of sacrificial animal waste and remains.
For better waste management,the city was divided into three operational zones based on union councils.
BWMC staff remained on duty round the clock to maintain cleanliness in residential areas,markets and public spaces, while lime powder and disinfectant sprays were used at waste collection points to ensure hygiene and prevent foul smell and environmental pollution.
Citizens were urged to cooperate with sanitation teams and dispose of animal waste responsibly.
The company also established a dedicated hotline service to facilitate doorstep waste collection during Eid days.
The district administration appreciated the cooperation of citizens, sanitation workers and law enforcement agencies in ensuring peaceful,secure and clean Eid celebrations across Bahawalpur.
