Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 arrives in India on Saturday, March 21, following the completion of 30 days of Ramadan. Since committees did not sight the Shawwal crescent on March 19, the month of fasting extends one more day. Millions of believers across India now prepare for a Saturday celebration.

By 8:00 PM, the verdict from the major Hilal Committees was clear. No credible testimonies of a moon sighting surfaced from Delhi, Lucknow, or Hyderabad. This means Friday, March 20, is the 30th and final day of Ramadan in India.

The Naib Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid and the leadership at Lucknow Eidgah both announced that Saturday, March 21, is the official 1st of Shawwal.
