RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2026) Like other parts of the country, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Rawalpindi with religious devotion and enthusiasm.
More than 1,400 congregations were held across the district at mosques, imambargahs, and open grounds, where thousands of worshippers offered Eid prayers.
Religious scholars and prayer leaders highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eid-ul-Fitr in their sermons.
Special prayers were offered for unity among the Muslim Ummah, peace and stability and the country’s progress and prosperity.
Tributes were also paid to the martyrs, while prayers were made for the freedom of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.
After the prayers, citizens celebrated the occasion with traditional zeal, visiting relatives and extending support to the underprivileged. The dishes including vermicelli, kheer, and other sweets were prepared for guests at homes.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, SSP Operations, SSP Investigation, and the Chief Traffic Officer, also offered Eid prayers at Police Lines Headquarter.
Prayers were made for the elevation of the ranks of police martyrs, national security, and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
According to the police spokesperson, strict security arrangements were put in place at over 1,400 locations, with more than 6,000 police personnel deployed during Chand Raat and Eid days.
Over 800 traffic wardens ensured smooth traffic flow, while special pickets were set up to prevent one-wheeling.
Elite Force, Dolphin Force, Ladies Police, and Muhafiz Squad actively performed their duties. Police mobiles and patrolling squads remained active throughout the city, while Rescue 1122 was kept on high alert.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company carried out a special cleanliness drive. The operation began immediately after the moon sighting, with “Zero Waste” measures implemented across all tehsils. Mosques, Eidgahs, parks, markets, and graveyards were thoroughly cleaned.
In Murree, special traffic arrangements were made in view of the influx of tourists. More than 200 traffic wardens and officers were deployed, and awareness banners and barriers were placed at key entry points to maintain smooth traffic flow.
