PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2026) The true spirit of Eidul Fitr came alive across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, as children overjoyed with excitement over Eidi gifts and families strengthened bonds through the cherished tradition of exchanging sweet dishes.
On the first day of Eid, neighborhoods across Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Kohat echoed with laughter and warm greetings.
Staying true to tradition, people after Eid prayers intermingled with each other and congratulated on Eidul Fitr.
They stepped out to visit relatives and friends carrying sweets, and envelopes filled with Eidi amid smile.
“I came to my sister’s house to congratulate her and gave Rs3,000 as Eidi to my nephews,” said Zeeshan Khan, reflecting the joy of giving that defines Eid.
These small gestures bring families closer and multiply happiness in Peshawar where swings and Peshawar zoo was flooded with visitors and children.
Malaika Khan, a 12 year resident of Pabbi tehsil was among thousands of children celebrating with enthusiasm. “I received Rs5,000 Eidi this year,” she said with a smile while visiting Chacha Younas Park.
“I spent some on toys and trips, and donated the rest to orphaned children. Helping others made my Eid even more joyful.”
Across the province, public spaces turned into vibrant hubs of celebration. Families thronged to Peshawar Zoo, Shahi Bagh, and scenic picnic spots like Sardaryab picnic point and Kund Park.
At Sardaryab, the festive mood blended with nature’s charm. Visitors enjoyed boat rides along the river, relished freshly fried fish, and gathered for lively barbecues along the banks.
The local musicians filled the air with traditional Pashto songs, drawing applause from delighted crowds.
“I visit Sardaryab every Eid,” shared Wajiha Bibi. “The river, the boats, and the peaceful environment give me a sense of happiness I look forward to every year.”
Meanwhile, Tanda Dam offered a refreshing escape for families seeking cool breezes and scenic beauty. Visitors from nearby districts gathered to picnic, swim, and celebrate together.
“My first priority during Eid holidays is to come here,” said Salahuddin Khan. “The natural beauty and calm atmosphere make it special.”
Back in the cities, entertainment melas and parks were filled with children eager to spend their Eidi on rides, toys, and treats
Ibrahim Khan, an eight year old resident of Nowshera excitedly shared how he spent his entire Eidi on swings and games, though he wished ticket prices were more affordable.
For many, Eid is not just about festivity but about reconnecting.
“I visited my grandfather’s home and shared Eid greetings with family,” said Asadullah Khan, a Govt servant. “Moments like these, after a month of fasting, revive the spirit of love, warmth, and brotherhood in society.”
From bustling parks to serene riverbanks, from envelopes of Eidi to plates of homemade sweets, the celebrations painted a great picture of unity and joy reminding all that Eid’s true essence lies in sharing happiness with others.
