HATTAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) A devastating fire erupted in Hattar after a main gas pipeline burst near the Volta Factory, engulfing three houses and leaving eight people dead, Rescue 1122 officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Rescue 1122 Haripur, the blaze spread rapidly following the pipeline rupture, forcing 20 to 25 residents to evacuate their homes. However, around 10 to 11 persons remained trapped inside, prompting an immediate rescue operation.
Rescue teams, led by District Emergency Officer Zahir Mian, rushed to the scene from Haripur and Khanpur stations. Authorities also contacted the Sui Gas Department to suspend the gas supply in order to control the fire.
During the operation, two persons were rescued alive, while another individual who fainted after witnessing the blast was provided first aid and shifted to the Trauma Center.
Despite rescue efforts, eight people lost their lives in the incident. Five bodies were shifted to RHC Kot Najibullah, while three were transferred to the Trauma Center.
The large-scale rescue operation involved 13 fire vehicles, 40 rescuers, and eight ambulances from multiple districts, including Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swabi, and parts of Punjab. The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) also assisted in the firefighting efforts.
Regional Director Operations North Arshad Iqbal, along with the Deputy Commissioner, District Police Officer (DPO), and Assistant Commissioner Haripur, were present at the site to oversee the operation.
Rescue officials stated that the fire was brought under control after extensive efforts, while further investigation into the cause of the pipeline rupture is underway.
