FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar said that the administration has accelerated emergency repair work at a major sinkhole on Millat Road caused by a damaged sewerage line and the traffic would be restored within the next two days.

He said that the restoration work is being carried out under the supervision of the divisional administration as a large cavity emerged at Millat Road due to collapse in the sewerage system which disrupted traffic and posed risks to the commuters.

To ensure continuity of sewerage flow, WASA officials have temporarily installed a 1400 mm ductile iron pipe at the affected site while parallel efforts are underway to rehabilitate the old sewer line, he added.

He said that once the restoration of the previous line is completed, the sewerage flow will be shifted back to the original system, followed by permanent reconstruction of the drain.

Meanwhile, Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza visited the site and reviewed the pace of ongoing operations.

He said that repair work on Channel-1 at Millat Road had been completed while restoration of sewerage lines would be finalized by morning.

He said that all-out efforts were being made to resolve the issue on an emergency basis while heavy machinery was deployed and field staff including directors of relevant directorates were present on-site to supervise operations.

He said that sewerage operations would be fully restored soon after completion of repair work. In the meantime, alternative routes had been arranged for sewerage flow to provide relief to residents of affected areas, he added.

He assured that once the repair work concluded, rehabilitation of the road surface would begin immediately and the main roadway would be reopened for traffic within two days, bringing relief to commuters and residents alike.
