Empty container trucks return from Afghanistan after 9 months

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) In a significant development at the Torkham Border, empty container trucks stranded in Afghanistan for the past nine months have finally returned to Pakistan.

According to border officials on Thursday, in the first phase two empty transit container trucks crossed into Pakistan through the Torkham border crossing.

The move has brought relief and happiness to transporters and drivers who had been facing difficulties due to the prolonged situation.

The border closure had caused serious problems for hundreds of Pakistani transporters and drivers, leaving their vehicles stranded for months.

Affected transporters welcomed the decision to allow the return of the trucks, calling it a positive step toward resolving long-standing issues.
