ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration took action against illegal roadside setups on GT Road led to the seizure of 1 vehicle and the shifting of several people to a police station, as authorities moved to clear obstructions affecting traffic flow in the Federal capital.
According to officials, the Assistant Commissioner carried out an operation against individuals who had set up selling points for construction material on the road. These setups were established under the cover of sale points but had extended onto the main road, causing disruption to traffic movement.
During the operation, the administration removed the encroachments and took action against those involved. A vehicle used at the site was also taken into custody. All individuals present at the location were shifted to the concerned police station for further legal process.
Officials said such activities not only occupy public space but also create problems for commuters by reducing road access. The operation aimed to restore traffic flow and ensure that public roads remain clear for general use.
The action is part of an ongoing campaign in the federal capital being carried out on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad. Authorities are conducting daily operations against both permanent and temporary encroachments across different areas of the city.
The administration has stated that these measures will continue to ensure that roads and public spaces are not used for unauthorized purposes. Residents and traders have been advised to avoid setting up any form of encroachment, as strict action is being taken on a regular basis.
