Environment Day observed with awareness walk in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Jun, 2026) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Gujrat organised a plantation drive, awareness walk and distribution of eco-friendly shopping bags at the DC Complex on World Environment Day.

According to official sources, the event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Gujrat Waqas Safdar Sikandari, who planted a sapling to formally launch the plantation campaign. Officials of the Forest Department, District Officer Environment Usama Majid, forest officers and representatives of relevant departments attended the ceremony.

An awareness walk was also held to highlight the importance of environmental protection and to encourage the public to reduce the use of plastic bags. Eco-friendly shopping bags were distributed among participants to promote sustainable practices.

Speakers stressed the need for collective efforts to plant trees, keep the environment clean and reduce pollution. During the plantation drive, saplings of ficus, kachnar, lagerstroemia and citrus (orange) were planted.
