ETPB Completes Arrangements for Arrival of Sikh Pilgrims; Two Major Religious Events to Be Held in June

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Evacuee Trust Property board (ETPB) has finalized comprehensive arrangements for the reception, accommodation, transportation, and facilitation of Indian Sikh pilgrims visiting Pakistan to participate in two significant Sikh religious events: the Martyrdom Anniversary (Jor Mela) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

On the directives of ETPB Chairman Qamar Zaman, all necessary facilities have been arranged to ensure the smooth performance of religious rituals by the pilgrims. Special arrangements have been made for security, transportation, lodging, medical assistance, and langar (community meals). The preparations have been completed under the supervision of Additional Secretary Shrines, Nasir Mushtaq.

Indian Sikh pilgrims attending the Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji will arrive in Pakistan via the Wagah Border on June 10, 2026. They will first visit Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib, followed by pilgrimages to the historic gurdwaras in Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad, and Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal.

The pilgrims will subsequently visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal and Gurdwara Rohri Sahib in Eminabad, Gujranwala, before arriving in Lahore on June 15.

The main ceremony marking the Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji will be held at Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore, on June 16, 2026. After visiting other historic Sikh shrines in Lahore, the pilgrims will return to India via the Wagah Border on June 19.

Meanwhile, another group of Indian Sikh pilgrims will arrive in Pakistan on June 21, 2026, to participate in the death anniversary observances of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The main commemorative ceremony will be held at Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore, on June 29, 2026.

Under the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, visas are issued to 1,000 Indian Sikh pilgrims for the Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and to 500 pilgrims for the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq stated that the ETPB considers it both a responsibility and an honor to host Sikh pilgrims. He added that the Board has made the best possible arrangements for Sikh pilgrims arriving from India and other parts of the world and will ensure that they are provided with all necessary facilities to perform their religious rituals in a peaceful and dignified environment.
