SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) A training session on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) was
organized in Jourian, Tehsil Sialkot, under the project “Catalysing Growth for Women
Economic Empowerment in District Sialkot (Punjab), Pakistan,” supported
by the UN Women Pakistan.
The session was conducted by Baidarie in collaboration with local Women Workers’ Groups,
aiming to strengthen community awareness and collective action against gender-based
violence.
The training also highlighted women protection laws in Punjab, mechanisms for
immediate rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of survivors, and available
referral systems.
Special emphasis was placed on ensuring access to justice for survivors of gender-based
discrimination and violence. The role of local stakeholders, including civil society organizations
and Women Workers’ Groups, was also discussed to enhance coordinated
responses to the EVAWG.
The session concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to work collectively
towards building safer, more inclusive communities and promoting gender equality
across the region.
