Event on Systemic Functional Linguistic on June 2

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) The Department of English Linguistics at the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) will host a PhD public defence event titled 'Investigating errors in learners' English-Urdu translation: A study based on systemic functional linguistics'.

According to an official press release issued here, PhD shcolar, Wafa Iqbal, will appear in PhD public defence event on June 2, 2026 at Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan library, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

Ms. Wafa will defend her doctoral thesis titled "Investigating errors in learners' English-Urdu translation: A study based on systemic functional linguistics". The press release further said that this research bridged the gap in language learning by showing how systemic functional grammar is transforming error analysis for intermediate students, hence it aims to bring objectivity in the current assessment practices at BISE Multan through its developed rubric.
