Excise Dept accelerates crackdown against tax defaulters, unregistered vehicles

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has accelerated enforcement operations across the province to ensure tax recovery, vehicle registration, and compliance with legal requirements.

In Peshawar, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-VI) Ejaz Anwar visited the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he met with the Chamber’s President, office-bearers, and members of the business community.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on property tax and various issues being faced by the business community.

Mr Anwar briefed participants on facilities being provided to taxpayers, transparency in the taxation system, and the government’s reform initiatives.

He stated that through mutual cooperation and continuous consultation with the business community, the revenue system is being made more effective and citizen-friendly.

Meanwhile, in Abbottabad, the Excise and Taxation Office, in collaboration with Abbottabad Police, has launched a joint crackdown against unregistered motorcycles. Several checkpoints and pickets have been established at different locations, and a number of unregistered motorcycles have been taken into custody, with legal proceedings initiated against their owners.

According to the Excise Department, unregistered vehicles and motorcycles pose risks to security, traffic discipline, and public safety.

Citizens have therefore been urged to ensure timely registration of their vehicles and motorcycles.

In Abbottabad, Excise authorities also carried out a special operation against showroom owners holding expired licences or operating illegally.

During the campaign, several showrooms were sealed and challans were issued to tax defaulters

Similarly, in Kohat, the Excise Department launched a special sealing campaign against defaulters of Professional Tax, Property Tax, and Motor Vehicle Dealer Tax.

During the operation, several shops, markets, business centres, medical facilities, and doctors’ clinics located in the Main Bazaar, Lorry Adda, Pindi Road, and other areas were sealed.

Officials stated that the sealed properties and business establishments will remain closed until the outstanding dues are cleared, adding that enforcement actions against defaulters will continue in the future.

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has informed the public and business community to timely fulfil their tax obligations, register their vehicles and motorcycles, renew their licences, and comply with all legal requirements to avoid legal action and inconvenience.
