Collector Customs Appraisement Faisalabad Dr Rizwan Basharat on Friday said that exporters were being provided the same facilities at Faisalabad Dry Port as available in Karachi under the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) and the local business community should fully benefit from the initiative
FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Collector Customs Appraisement Faisalabad Dr Rizwan Basharat on Friday said that exporters were being provided the same facilities at Faisalabad Dry Port as available in Karachi under the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) and the local business community should fully benefit from the initiative.
Addressing a special awareness session at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he said that modern systems had been introduced to improve transparency and efficiency in export processes.
Responding to complaints regarding the opening of export containers at the dry port, he said that an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system had been implemented to track when and where a container was opened for ensuring accountability and minimizing unnecessary interference.
He also explained the newly issued SRO and said that the mandatory utilization period for imported goods under the scheme had been extended from 9 months to 18 months.
The notification, effective from March 18, would automatically apply to those importers who had already brought goods under the scheme, he added.
Dr Rizwan Basharat further said that under the EFS, real-time automatic adjustment of imported goods would be ensured upon their export.
He said that the previous time restriction for exporting finished goods manufactured from imported material had been abolished, providing greater flexibility to exporters.
He informed that under the new SRO, EFS licenses would be issued for one year while any extension beyond 18 months would require approval from the relevant board.
Earlier, welcoming the participants, President FCCI Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that the Export Facilitation Scheme had significantly enhanced the competitiveness of textile exporters. He said that the session was organized to create awareness about recent amendments in the SRO so the exporters could better understand and benefit from them.
Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) Ahmad Afzal Awan suggested that even partially exported goods, after full preparation of imported material, should be adjusted promptly under the scheme.
During question-answer session, Muzammil Sultan and Arif Ehsan Malik shared their views while Senior Vice President FCCI Naveed Akram Sheikh, Vice President Engineer Asim Munir, Executive Members Muhammad Ali, Waheed Khalique Ramay, Chairman APTPMA Rao Muhammad Akram and others were also present on the occasion.
