HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Former Senator Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Chairman Popular Group of Industries, Malik Imamuddin Shouqeen on Thursday said Pakistan was currently facing severe economic pressure and required immediate, comprehensive and realistic reforms to stabilise its economy.
Strengthening the industrial sector, promoting exports and encouraging investment were essential priorities and should be prioritized in the upcoming budget.
He said the government should introduce business-friendly policies that restore investor confidence while simultaneously increasing domestic production and export capacity.
He further suggested that the upcoming Federal budget should include targeted reforms to support export-oriented industries, reduce production costs, rationalise energy tariffs and provide modern infrastructure to the industrial sector.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>On the political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said the PPP had secured a historic mandate in the recent elections, reflecting public confidence in the party. He added that the party would take part in the process of government formation while respecting local realities and public aspirations.
He said the PPP would engage with other political parties and independent candidates, if necessary, to form a government that would truly represent the aspirations of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He reiterated that the party remained committed to public service, employment generation, development projects and provision of basic facilities across the region.
