Faisalabad Greenfield Airport Project Formally Launched

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) The kick-off meeting for the Feasibility Study, Master Planning, and Detailed Design Services of the Greenfield Airport Faisalabad was successfully held on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in the development of a modern aviation hub for Central Punjab.

The meeting formalized the start of the project under a contract between the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and DAR Al-Handasah, one of the world’s leading aviation consultancy firms, working in joint venture with local partners OCL-Asian. The collaboration sets the stage for a state-of-the-art facility aimed at transforming regional air connectivity and boosting economic activity.

Senior leadership of the PAA, led by Deputy Director General Engr. Sumair Saeed, attended the session along with the Director Planning & Development, Director Finance, Additional Director Planning & Development, and other officials.

Representatives from the Faisalabad District Administration, business community, and key aviation stakeholders were also present.

During the meeting, the consulting team presented a comprehensive work plan detailing the roadmap for the feasibility, master planning, and design stages.

The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion and a media briefing.

The proposed Greenfield Airport is envisioned as a major catalyst for economic growth, trade expansion, tourism promotion, and employment generation across Central Punjab. Today’s kick-off meeting marks the first significant step toward delivering a modern, world-class airport facility for the people of Faisalabad.
