Fake cop involved in dozens of robberies apprehended

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Tibi city police have arrested a suspect involved in a series of robberies while impersonating a police officer in the provincial capital,here on Monday.

According to SP city Atif Amir,the accused would intercept citizens on roads,accuse them of violating checkpoints and conduct fake searches during which he deprived them of cash and mobile phones.

Officials said that the suspect used a motorcycle fitted with a blue light and wore police-style uniform pants and shoes to appear authentic.

After taking valuables,he would ask victims to follow him only to flee through narrow streets.

Police claim that the accused was involved in more than 50 such incidents across the city.

CCTV footage obtained during the investigation shows the suspect escaping after committing the crimes.

The accused was apprehended by SHO Tibi City,Hassan Naqvi along with his team.

A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
