Fares frozen in Kohat despite fuel price increase

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Transport fares across Kohat Division will remain unchanged despite a recent increase in fuel prices, as authorities and transporters agreed to protect the public from additional burden.

The decision was made after a meeting chaired by Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah with transporters, vehicle owners, and officials to review the situation, said a press release here.

All participants agreed to keep existing fares unchanged until the government issues a new official fare list.

Transporters assured full cooperation, saying public relief will be their priority despite higher fuel costs.

As part of relief measures, the Commissioner announced a one-month waiver of bus stand (adda) fees and directed implementation of government transport subsidies.

Authorities also stressed following official rates of gas and other utilities to reduce pressure on transporters and ensure benefits reach passengers.

Officials termed the move a positive step to support citizens amid rising inflation.
