Federal Budget allocates funds for key Balochistan projects: Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Balochistan’s Finance Minister, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, has welcomed the Federal budget for 2026–27, describing it as a significant step toward economic stability, public welfare, and sustainable development. He said the allocations for major water and irrigation projects in the province demonstrate the federal government’s commitment to addressing Balochistan’s developmental challenges.

Talking to APP, Shoaib Nosherwani noted that the budget reflects a balanced strategy, maintaining fiscal discipline while prioritizing social and development sectors. He highlighted that special attention has been given to youth skill development, business support, digital economy initiatives, agricultural growth, and job creation.

Among the key allocations, Rs. 1.37 billion has been earmarked for the rehabilitation of flood-affected sections of the Kachhi Canal project. Additionally, Rs. 1.46 billion has been set aside for the revised plan to construct the Gurok Storage Dam in Kharaan district, while Rs.

3 billion has been allocated for the remodeling of the Pat Feeder Canal system in Nasirabad district.

Shoaib Nosherwani emphasized that these projects are vital for improving water resources, boosting agriculture, and supporting livelihoods in Balochistan.

He added that both federal and provincial governments are working together to deliver better services, create employment opportunities, and ensure that the benefits of development reach the people. “The measures proposed in this budget will not only revive investment confidence and economic activity but also improve the lives of ordinary citizens, setting the country on a new path of progress,” Nosherwani remarked.

The finance minister reaffirmed that the Balochistan government will play an active role in ensuring that the benefits of the federal budget are effectively delivered to the public.
