QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that the federal government is taking effective and practical steps to make Gwadar Port compatible with modern requirements, promote international investment and provide best facilities to global shipping companies.

According to sources,under the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the effective maritime and trade policies of the federal government and the determination to transform Gwadar into an important economic and trade hub of the region, international maritime and trade activities are witnessing a significant increase at Gwadar Port.

Under the leadership of Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the Panama-flagged cargo ship MV KAI XUAN anchored at Gwadar Port, which arrived with a heavy cargo of 29,832 metric tons of machinery, industrial equipment and steel. According to sources, the length of the ship is 189.8 meters, while the said cargo was sent from China to Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The ship departed from Fujairah Port before arriving in Gwadar.

On this occasion, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that the federal government is taking effective and practical steps to make Gwadar Port compatible with modern requirements, promote international investment and provide best facilities to global shipping companies. He said that Gwadar Port is becoming a key player in promoting CPEC, regional connectivity and global trade activities, which would further strengthen not only Balochistan but also the country’s economy. Chairman Gwadar Port Noorul Haq Baloch said that the continuous arrival of large international ships at Gwadar Port is clear evidence that the scope of trade activities at the port is expanding rapidly.

He said that Gwadar Port will emerge as an effective transit, logistics and trade port of the region in the future due to its unique geographical importance, modern infrastructure and international standard facilities.
