Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Tuesday, awarded certificates to KPT firefighters, security personnel and Traffic department for averting a major fire incident at one of the KPT terminals during January 2026
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Tuesday, awarded certificates to KPT firefighters, security personnel and Traffic department for averting a major fire incident at one of the KPT terminals during January 2026.
The Maritime Minister, addressing the certificate distribution ceremony, lauded Karachi Port Trust under the incumbent Chairman for pursuing operational excellence including transshipment, bunkering and smooth functioning on 24/7 basis.
The hard work and sacrifices made by the firefighters while performing their duties were commendable, he said, adding that Pakistan has immense potential and with the spirit of national unity we could solve every problem.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that Pakistani ports successfully dealt with the challenging situation following the escalation in the middle East and efficiently handled a large volume of transshipment cargo on a short notice.
The minister, at this occasion, also recognized Ms Almas Qasmani as KPT’s Mangroves Ambassador and presented appreciation certificates to her team.
Chairman Karachi Port Trust, Rear Admiral (R) Shahid Ahmed, highlighted the key role of KPT in the country's foreign trade and global connectivity and informed that the port has a dedicated fire station equipped with modern equipment and required facilities to deal with fire incidents within and around the port premises.
KPT's fire brigade participated in more than 120 emergency operations following various fire incidents in the city, he said and lauded the determination and hard work of KPT firefighters.
On this occasion CEO KICT also announced cash awards for firefighters.
